Here I guide students through the tips and tricks that make a great personal statement. We review their academic and extra-curricular work, to create the content, and I review a draft of the statement to check for flow.
HAT and ELAT preparation (Lesson 2)
Here I guide students through the HAT (For History, or History & English candidates) or the ELAT (for English candidates). We review past papers and practise technique, as I introduce candidates to ways of thinking tutors admire in candidates. I will mark practise papers with the student to show them modes of imrpovement, and guide them in practise.
Interview Practise (Lesson 3)
Through an interview format, tutor and student will review the students personal statement, essay submissions, and their interest in the subject in greater depth. We will also look at how the student will prepare on the day, and ways of combatting nerves in the interview.
